EMS hosted a tree planting and mulching ceremony to commemorate Arbor Day on Friday, May 3. The Essex Conservation and Trails Committee, along with Full Circle Gardens planted the Hop Hornbeam tree on April 30, and the ceremony was held on May 3. The EMS science teachers put together a list of students from each team to represent the student body, who participated in the ceremony by mulching/watering the tree.
The tree is planted by the sidewalks in front of the school. Ken from the trails committee spoke about Arbor Day and Dan Pimpton, EMS science teacher, spoke about the ecological/cultural significance of trees.
