I grew up in Virginia Beach, Virginia and this is where my parents still live.

My husband and I live in Burlington with our son. We love the water, cooking great meals with family and friends, and being outdoors. 

I told my mother I wanted to be a teacher for the first time when I was five years old.

All my life I have had a true love for learning, helping others, and children. Becoming the principal of Hiawatha has been a true gift. I am beyond lucky to be part of an amazing community of teachers, students and families

Hi there,  I'm Michelle Murphy-Ertle!  I'm the Office Manager here at Hiawatha.  I live in Essex Junction with my hubby. We have two amazing grown children and two very sweet kitty cats,  I love spending time with my family. 

I also enjoy reading a good book, watching movies, listening to music, visiting with friends, gardening, going for walks,  and traveling. With Ertle in my last name, you will see that turtles are my favorite animals!  We have two aquatic turtles living in a big aquarium at home!
